Healing Through Creating
From Veronica Anzorena: Founder, HopeCo. Global
From the moment you walk in the Hoving Home in Las Vegas, a tangible sense of peace greets you. The Hoving Home is a place of deep healing where women come to recover from addiction, abuse and other hardships. I’ve been coming to the Hoving Home for almost 2 years. Someone always greets me with a smile and a friendly “hello” and more often than not, the greeting is followed by an exuberant hug!
When I started teaching a jewelry making class, my heart was to help the ladies have a creative time that would be productive, fun and hopefully healing. I didn’t know that I would come to love getting to know these courageous women. I have seen many come and some go. We celebrate when they complete the program and step into independence.
The jewelry the women make is crafted from donated supplies and up-cycled jewelry. The weekly class allows them to have a break in their schooling and work schedule to enjoy being creative. Creating a beautiful new piece of jewelry and learning creative skills can bring a different kind of healing to a person. The jewelry they make is sold at events that support the Hoving Home. For the ladies, knowing they can create something beautiful, and seeing that people want to buy their creation is restorative and encouraging.
Join us in supporting the women at Hoving Home, Salvation Army SEEDs of Hope, and more.
